Imagine that you go to do your Erasmus to Bilbao and you have to rent a room to live in the city. You have two options, one that will drive towards your new room spending a lot of money and a lot of time, and the other one, will drive towards to your new room in 4 clicks and with all the security that SwifFlats offers.

OPTION A:

You arrive in Bilbao and you do not have a house yet, so you decide to stay for a week in the cheapest hostel you can find: This in Bilbao has a price of  14€ per night in low season, which total  98€ for the whole week . There you must share the room with 7 other people and the hostel does not have a kitchen, so you have  to go out to eat every day or try to eat in the hostel common room.

The average price of the daily menu in Bilbao is between  10€-15€, so eating out every day, costs between 140€ and 210€, without including  the cost of breakfast. At this point we have already spent a total of between 238€ and 308€.

On the other hand, there is the search of the flat, you have read several Internet pages to find the last options to live. This pretty much makes you a 4h online every day during 7 days.

During these 4 hours, let’s say that half of  your time you will spend calling to the landlords, to see if the flat that has already been seen and that can be visited is available. Here it is not only the cost of calls, but the handicap that the landlord has no English and you can not communicate well with him. So they spent many hours trying to talk to all kinds of people, landlordswho did not accept students and people who did not have the rental agreement. In addition to many landlords who do not rent the apartment by rooms.

Now you have the part of your tour through Bilbao to visit all the flats that you have decided are worth seeing. Let’s say that this process is 3 hours between trips by public transport (prices are 91 cents metro per section in an area, 73 cents tram and 65 cents bus), see the different flats, etc. So there are now 7 hours online and offline.

In Bilbao for public transport, Barik is used, which costs  3€ and you insert money in blocks of 5-10-15-20 and 50€. With an estimate of 5 trips per day (only to see flats), in the week they are just over 30€.

Making all these calculations the estimated price to find a flat / room in Bilbao calculating money and time is:

– 366-436€ in 7 days (62.28€ per day)

– 49h total weekly online and offline (7h each day)

On the other hand we have “THE B OPTION “ and it consists of that before going to Bilbao look for your room or flat in www.swiftflats.com.
